Istanbul Day Three: Topkapi Palace and Basilica Cistern. Topkapi Palace. Snuggled on top of a large hill, behind the Hagia Sophia, is the Topkapi Palace. You can see a pretty photo of it above on the day before we went exploring.... According to the sign inside, "there was no trespassing beyond the gate of the Harem, with the exception of the Sultan, the queen mother, the Sultan's consorts and favourites (sp), the princes and his concubines as well as the eunuchs...
