chilean rose tarantula spiderling
Chilean rose tarantulas (Grammostola rosea) are the most common tarantulas available in the pet trade, largely due to the large number of wild-caught specimens exported from Chile. There are two color morphs in this species. Rose (a pink-gray) and red are common designations for these... spiny utricating hairs that they kick off of their abdomen in the direction of the threatening organism. Thanks to Jamie Lessee for sending this captive-bred spiderling my way.

Post added 04-05-2012 at 02:10 AM ---------- I have a tiny 1.25 inch chilean rose hair spiderling that seems to go longer without adding water, though he lives in a small deli container and his substrate is usually a bit moist.
Deceased Tarantula - Did I kill her?
snake or a tarantula in your bedroom seems like the weirdest and scariest thing you could ever do. "But WHY?!" is one .... Curly Haired Tarantula - This was one of the first spiders I ever kept and he was a winy spiderling. I made the mistake of putting him in a cage with ventilation slits and underestimated just how small a gap he could squeeze through. He was found... Chilean rose tarantulas are in fact quite simple to keep once you have their housing set up correctly.
