buenos aires tetra breeding

I have bought a pair of 1.5″ female convict cichlids as my initial fish to cycle the tank as they are a hearty breed and are more likely to survive the tank setup. I am wondering what good tank mates will be? I will not be... up with only one type of cichlid in the end, despite your best efforts. The best mixes for these fish would be a single species of cichlid, matched with a larger, boisterous schooling fish, like Buenos Aires tetras, tiger barbs, giant danios, Hampala sharks, rainbowfish, etc.
