What I love about New York is that you don't even realize how much you're walking until—BAM!—you've just traveled 61 blocks and six avenues by foot. It combats all the eating to be had the rest of the time you're there.

On Sunday morning we were up bright and relatively early and took a taxi to the southern part of the city, to the barrio of Xochimilco which is famous for its system of canals - the last remaining part of the lake that used to cover the whole area that is now Mexico City.
